I've been doing lightning photography as long as I've been taking pictures. I blew through an entire roll of film on my sisters SLR trying to capture lightning as a young teen, she wasn't super pleased. I finally got some luck when the first digital cams became affordable, attempting to shoot quickly with my finger. Now days more advanced tech is available like lightning triggers, which makes the bolts a lot easier to catch. While I'm always focused on chasing floods first, I do head out to chase lightning when I can. Getting in position at the right time is really the battle. The scenes these bolts produce are fleeting, but beautiful.
